Pre-Installation Inspection

Protection Setup
Tarps over landscaping, magnetic nail sweepers positioned, dumpster placed. We protect your property like it's our own — windows, siding, AC units all covered.
Tear-Off & Deck Inspection
Full removal of old shingles, felt, and nails. Every square foot of decking inspected for rot, soft spots, or damage. Damaged areas replaced with matching plywood.
Underlayment & Ice/Water Shield
Synthetic underlayment across entire roof. Ice & water shield at eaves, valleys, skylights, walls, and penetrations — critical in Coastal Georgia's wind-driven rain zone.
Drip Edge & Starter Strip
New drip edge on all eaves and rakes. Brand-matched starter strips (GAF ProStart, OC Starter, etc.) for proper adhesive bond and warranty compliance.
Shingle Installation
Brand-specific nailing patterns (6-nail for hurricane zone). Proper offset, alignment, and exposure per manufacturer specifications. Every shingle hand-sealed in extreme heat.
Ridge Caps & Ventilation
Ridge vent installation for attic airflow. Brand-matched ridge caps for cohesive appearance. Proper ventilation extends shingle life by 20-30% in Georgia's heat.
Flashing & Sealing
Step flashing at walls, counter flashing at chimneys, boot covers at pipes. Every penetration triple-sealed. This is where most leaks originate — we don't cut corners.
Cleanup & Final Walk
Triple magnetic sweep of yard. Gutter cleaning. Detailed photo documentation. Final walkthrough with homeowner. Warranty paperwork submitted to manufacturer same day.
Installation FAQ
How long does a professional roof installation take?
1-3 days for most residential roofs. A standard 2,000 sq ft home typically takes 1-2 days. Complex roofs with multiple pitches, dormers, or skylights may take 2-3 days. Weather can add delays — we never install in rain.
Do you use specific nailing patterns for hurricanes?
Yes. Building code in Coastal Georgia requires 6-nail patterns for architectural shingles. We use stainless steel nails near the coast (within 3,000 feet of saltwater). This meets or exceeds ASTM D3161 Class F requirements.
What happens if it rains during my roof installation?
We never install in rain, and an exposed roof deck is never left unprotected overnight. At the end of each work day we seal all opened areas with synthetic underlayment — the same water-resistant layer applied across the entire roof in step four — so the structure stays dry even if weather moves in. Ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations adds another barrier. If rain is forecast, we may delay starting rather than open a roof we cannot fully close that day.
Why do you use brand-matched starter strips instead of cut shingles?
Manufacturer-engineered starter strips like GAF ProStart and Owens Corning Starter (step five of our process) have a factory-placed adhesive bead positioned exactly along the eave and rake to lock the first course of shingles down. That adhesive bond is what resists wind uplift in Coastal Georgia’s storm zone and is a condition of the manufacturer warranty. Cutting starter from field shingles puts the sealant in the wrong place, weakens the edge, and can void warranty coverage, so we install the brand-matched starter the manufacturer specifies.
